Influence of Wake Sweeping Frequency on the Unsteady Flow Characteristics of an Integrated Aggressive Interturbine Duct

A dynamic simulation was launched to research the influence of high-pressure turbine (HPT) rotor wake passing frequency on flow mechanism in an integrated aggressive interturbine duct (AITD). Sweeping rods were adopted replace HPT rotors decouple its from those other secondary flows. The diameter (d/s, nondimensionalized by pitch (s) struts at midspan) 0.10, and their reduced (f) ranged 0.49 1.61. k–ω SST turbulence model γ–θ transition for closure. 6.3-million-node structured grid used meet dependency. Along with increasing f, intensified circumferential motion (1) enhances vortex stretching exhaustion near hub; (2) promotes radial inclination wakes elongates narrows band, resulting increased spacing between adjacent vortices weakened interaction. In high-f cases, enhanced intensity interval could suppress separation bubble LPT-GV advance, but elongated narrowed resulted a substantial reduction extent duration suppression bubble. Therefore, f AITD parts bidirectional, adjusting sweeping balance positive negative effects minimize total loss AITD.
